OG LunchBox

back in the days when I was a teenager, before I had status and before I had a pager…. ways out… for real tho back in the days at Karma in the olden days, we did this thing… it didn’t have a name or anything and it wasn’t really advertised, but we did it anyway because we love the people.  we love ourselves and we love y’all and we love the city and we love the garden but most of all…. we love your guts.

now that we work toward gettin Solar open (I’ll give you an update on that in just a sec) we start thinkin about the people we love and thier guts…. what are y’all gon’ eat until we get open?  and how do we stay connected to our resources in the interim. 

and the OG LunchBox is Born.

The OG Lunch Box  (OG for OrGanic & Lunchbox cus it comes in a box) is a way for us to eat organic produce at a significantly lower cost than the retail grocers will ever allow for us.  We have long term goals and plans for the hood OG food co-op and in the interim we would love to invite you to participate in the OG Lunchbox.  Basically SOLAR will receive organic produce from local farmers (as best we can) via Growers Organic and Delaney Farms every monday, sort out the boxes into two sizes which you can choose. 

a small OG LunchBox can feed 1-2 people for the week

a large OG LunchBox can feed up to 5 people in a week

the box will include a mixture of inseason fruits and vegetables and varies weekly based on what is in season and available to us and you can come and pick it up on location at SOLAR on mondays.

we really sincerly love your guts and what this is more than anything else is a start on showing each other how little effort it will really take for us to make change (no obama jokes please) in our hood without selling off our first born children and our souls.  It can be easy, we just have to do it together to make it work (I swear I’m not a politician).

SOLAR UPDATE.

I promise I really and truly planned to be opening right about now.  And its ok that it hasn’t happened that way.  we are learning alot about the process and the way our city builds things.  We are trailblazin y’all and part of the reason why some of this is taking some time is because our city does not have a space like SOLAR yet.  And while no one doubts that we are most neccesary they also have questions.  fair enuf.  I have become the expert at explaining our vision as well as explaining the practical application of such a space.

Our city is beginning to love SOLAR too.  I know sometimes it feels like were taking forever, when really we are just making sure the energy is right, the dollars are right, the building is right, the foundation is rooted in our mission, and the folks who are helping to manifest this space are down for the greater good.

OH! and how could I forget to tell YOU!!  The Website is LIVE!!  http://www.solarlivity.com the content is being added daily… there may be some kinks to work out, but my girl Celia Herrera is super duper fly in her design.  leave us comments there and check in for updates regular.  I will be posting the MENU soon!!!
